Frequently asked questions

When will my Shrimp get here?

Our shrimp are sent prioity USPS throughtout the state of Florida. We take care to package our shrimp and ship them with the utmost care so they should arrive no later than 3 days after you receive a notifcation that they have been shipped. As they are live animals we do not ship over the weekend to avoid delays.

How Many Shrimp should I buy?

This depends on the size of the tank and what your goals for your aquarium are, and if you plan on putting other aquatic animals and invertabrae. A 5 gallon tank can hold up to 50 shrimp. We offer 5 and 10 packs to allow for a variety of sizes. More than 5 shrimp in a healthy environment may breed.

What other creatures can hang out with Shrimp?

Shrimp are in many aquatic environments and can thrive with a variety of other creatures. Snails and guppies get along particulary well. Try to avoid large predator fish as they often like shrimp as a tasty snack. Although this is natural, it can cause undue stress to your shrimp as they are unable to ever relax in an enclosed area like an aquarium.

Should I buy live plants?

We highly reccomend it! Shrimp can be sensitve to water changes and live plants help regulate nitrates and other chemicals that can shock shrimp. They are also an imporant source of food and create much needed hiding spots for your shrimp.

How do I tell the males and females apart?

Great question! Males are generally smaller and lighter in color. Females are larger and darker and have rounder cuticules.
